BABY ACNE

It seems strange but it is a fact that your new born infant might experience acne. And yes it is a pretty normal phenomenon and as such there is no need for you to panic. Baby acne is not such a big problem in most of the cases. You would find baby acne clearing up by itself without any medication or dermatologist. The main reason behind baby acne is the natural oil getting trapped in the hair follicles. Most of the times you would find baby acne erupting on the cheek but you might find acne appearing on the forehead and the chin.

If you find your baby having baby acne, you don’t need to do anything special. You just need to bathe your infant normally with your baby soap. You would surely need a clean and soft washcloth though. One more thing, the soap must be hypoallergenic or you would have to change the soap. Most probably the baby acne would disappear in a few weeks. But if the situation persists you should surely consult a doctor for your baby acne.

When it comes to child acne, you should understand that you cannot stop it from happening but what you can do is to take steps to reduce it and not to let it scar the face of your child. Getting your child wash his or her face twice a day with warm water, a soft face-cloth and a mild soap (hypoallergenic) is a very effective means of achieving it. If it is your daughter, tell her to avoid makeup with oil base and then also to use makeup sparingly. She must also be told to use makeup with “noncomedogenic” label. This label means that the makeup product won’t aggravate your acne. One thing more, in no case she should go to bed without removing her makeup. Her skin needs to breathe.

In most of the cases you would find that you would be able to get rid of acne by self medication. Most of these products contain benzol peroxide. This is the ingredient which is the most common in most of the creams and lotions right across different manufacturers. What should be noted though is that the percentage of benzol peroxide differs in different products. You should be choosing a product which has the highest percentage of benzol peroxide. And yes you would surely need to check it out whether the skin of your child reacts to it or not. You should apply a little of the cream or lotion on some part of the body (better if it is inconspicuous) and check it if there is any reaction.

And in case, you find no improvement in the condition of the acne, you should consult the regular doctor of your child. He would be in a better position to give you better advice and proper medications. If he advises you to visit a dermatologist then only consult him. There is no need for you to directly visit a dermatologist. First consult your regular pediatrician.

Hope you might have found the suggestions useful for your baby acne.
